Hello everyone to those who remember me I say hello to those who don't I say how's it goin'. I've been spending much time with my girlfriend who in September became my Fiance and we had an idea for a Harry Potter/ Lord of The rings wedding any ideas or suggestions on decor and such?

I have no ideas, but best of luck and congratulations!

My friend recently had an outdoor, mideival style wedding. She and her Mom made costumes/outfits for all of the wedding party, and for the priest(s) that married them. The groomsmen carried torches, and the bridesmaids danced up the aisle with streamers. It was very beautiful, but not exactly Lord of the Ring-ish.

I was recently at a wedding that occurred inside a castle. Or, rather, I missed the wedding by fifteen minutes due to car trouble, but made it for the reception, which was still in the castle. Gorgeous... You could do such a thing and it would automatically lend itself to a more Tolkienesque wardrobe, but the question is: which part of Middle Earth are you most attracted to? Because a woodsy elf-style wedding in a park under red and gold leaves would be stunning as well, but would be, as you see, rather different than a wedding planned to be a bit Gondorian...

Well Beatriz, my fiance, is planning on walking down the aisle to the music in the "Concerning hobbits" bit of the movie. The shire is probably where we would think of when doing the wedding also we were thinking of instead of a church do it in a vineyard

I'll suggest this much: Take the Tolkienish elements (and values) that matter to you; but focus on the beauty, the elegance, the honor, the depth, and the eternal, rather than the explicit ME-ness of it. Middle-earth resounds with beauty and truth; let that be your guide.

For a blatant example: It might be cute to dress your ring-bearer as a hobbit; but will you always be glad you did it? Subtle hints would be okay-- say, a velvet coat with a nice waistcoat underneath; knickers maybe; but I'd skip the furry bare feet.

Go for real beauty, elegance, clear air, freshness of nature-- elves, men and hobbits alike love that stuff. There are lovely dresses out there aplenty that any elf maiden would be proud to wear. Add some classy earrings and a head-dress with gems or leaves, and you'll have something elegant.

But stay clear of garish costumes or blatant contrivances that will make you cringe later. I'd avoid fake rubber feet, fake rubber ears, dwarvish axes, or orc-hides.

And no rings inscribed by Mordor, please. "One ring to rule them all" is not an appropritae marriage blessing!!!!!
