Sting Enya and LotR?

Now, this has nothing to do with Enya and the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, but this has everything to do with Enya and her old album, "Shepherd's Moon." On the album is a song called, "Lothlorien." I was curious, did Enya do this song as a dedication to the glorious elven city? Or is it just a name?

I've thought about this one. I'm pretty sure it was dedicated to the elven-city, because that would have to be a pretty big coincidence to name the song "Lothlorien" and not have it be talking about the elven-city. What are the odds?

Enya is one of my favourites, so when I saw this topic, I went straight to her website (www.enya.com) and tried to find the answer. I ended up coming across this excerpt from the forward to the Shepherd Moons Music Book. This is what Roma Ryan (Enya's lyricist) had to say about 'Lothlorien':

Quote:
Sam felt as if he were inside a song when he described Lothlórien, the land of
enchantment and wonder in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings . Lothlórien is as
beautiful as a dream, as pure as the dawn of creation and as old as the beginning of time.
Here, the leaves of the Mallorn trees in Autumn do not fall, but turn to gold.

Various translations and suggested origins of the name Lothlórien give us colourful
and imaginative expressions such as 'the vale of the land of singers', 'the valley of the
singing Gold' and 'Dreamflower'.
