Sting HAIKU

japanese poems
today have gained my fancy
now i share my joy

tolkien's world, nature
these haikus must have them both
because i say so

real haikus, proper
they must have some nature theme
wind blows on cold plain

it shan't be hard, though
middle-earth is full of it
all is in nature

and commentary
dont do it in prose
or ill make you pay

on that very note
my haikus proper commence
right after this one

HELM'S DEEP
here the dead mount high
the forest overtakes all
only wind remains

Here's something Tolkien
I meant to give yesterday,
Now, burrahobbit.

Saruman

Prism-words twist and
Refract a many-hued voice:
Dishonouring Truth.

Stars
Does she ever see
Stars as bright on black canvas?
My sweet tears - not yet.

Gandalf
"There's one way only -
To find the vile Cracks of Doom
And cast the Ring there!"

Provocation is a Tender Trap
And that sweet laughter
Tinkled through the sun-drench'd woods
And cast him in love.

Autumnal
Come and fall with me
Let Autumnal wist take us
Send us to sadness.

Enjoyable thread
burrahobbit friend
I will soon return.

I forgot to say
A game is therein, above -
Which words are for whom?

Answer in the form, please
Of structure and cold control;
A poem, a poem, dear.

A bit of haiku
To sate your poetic lust
"Nightfall in Mirkwood":

Branches sway and creak
Leaves rustle in the shadows
Cold laughter, silence...

I don't think I could
Write poems as good as this
Silently I'll watch

Maybe I shall try
How hard can it be to write
A haiku or two?

Two Trees in the West
Made of gold and silver
The Valar are proud

Telperion dew
Was made into stars above
The elves then woke up

Nightingale keens
at last on a darkling plain.
Evenstar eclipsed.

Frodo's mortal heart
was aroused by rain-drenched song:
River-daughter's laugh.
Yet title intrigues.
What tender trap do you read,
Poet, love or quest?

Leaf fall and lock lost:
Autumnal wist take Gimli
with Galadriel.

The form answering,
an expostulation now:
'Tis less cold control
than measured finesse,
distillation of desire,
intensity wrought.

Would words have their wings
If truly they were own'd by
Any one of us?

Bethberry, my praise
Thou art correct in thy thought
Panegyrics commence!

Would that all flowers
Grew as endless as sunlight;
I find them fleeting.

Love of the poetic -
Quest for the solitude that
Bears the Ring of truth.

Hi there new person!
Your lovely haiku wows me
for sure, you can stay

one thing you should know
your avatar does not show
you messed up a bit

you need a web host
some place to put the picture
so others can see

i'm sure it's great, though
and i can't help find a host
maybe someone else

Congratulations
on your personal title,
Perilous Poet.

So you would wish to
preserve imperishable
the fleeting flower?

Yet you grant words wings.
Sounds silmarillish to me,
confus'd signified

and signifier.
Respect Goldberry's wash day:
Ringbearer's lesson.

Although perhaps your
point is indeed that, but with
hint of Balrog's wings?

oh, look at her now
the unicorn is searching
wait, that's not tolkien

always searching now
precious, where is the precious?
bagginses has it

little hairy feet
never wearing any shoes
they must be dirty

hobbits love to eat
it's always six meals a day
no wonder they're round

galloping the plains
feeling the wind in their hair
Riders of Rohan

with a hoom and hem
trees walking through the forest
fangorn is their home

he ran out the door
with nary a handkerchief
scatterbrained hobbit

they lost their treasure
still there under the mountain
the dragon has it

he guards his treasure
hiding under erebor
but still causes fear

song of the ainu
they helped create the world
eru's still the one

maybe they'll cook us
or squash us into jelly
oh look, there's the sun

Sauron forged a ring
Twas the ring to rule them all
Isildur took it

It fell into Anduin
Smeagol stole, then Bilbo found

It passed to Frodo
But Gandalf found its secret
