Nimrodel
Last night, as I was re-reading the Chapter "Lothloríen" I came across Legolas's reciting of Nimrodel. The whole time I was reading this, I could not but help think of "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers.
Maybe it's the part, "Lonely rivers flow To the sea, to the sea To the open arms of the sea. Lonely rivers sigh Wait for me, wait for me I'll be coming home Wait for me." It just seems that both have a finality and a sense of doom to them. Unrequited love longing for the one they cannot reach. Hey, at least "Endless Sleep" ends better.

Just thought of something. "Endless Sleep" is more like the story of Beren and Lùthien.

yes but perhaps if it's eternal rest with someone we love...well, I think I could be happy

Ah, l'amour! I know what you mean, Legolas' song sounds so.... heartbreaking. I've never heard the song you're referring to, but I'm sure it fits.

Does anyone have other songs that remind them of ME?
Maybe this should be moved to Novices and Newcomes, Esty. I posted this many months back.

A song that reminds me of Tolkien's works? Led Zeppelin's "The Battle of Evermore." It does help that the song actually mentions the Ringwraiths.
