Hmm, but perhaps Bush is pretending to be Bombadil so that people will think he's one of the good guys, but in reality, he's....

This thread is deceptively labelled.

When I recieved that picture from a local leftwing mailinglist, not for one moment did I think GWB being Tom Bombadil, I assure you. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Not to mention few little things like being bent on world domination and commanding the worlds greatest army, he's wisible and so is the writing.

After seeing the picture It took me some five minutes to stop laughing and then I proceeded to write a three page rework of the plot and casting of the LOTR to correspond to this and send it as reply.

Finland of course was shire, as we are a happy nation of minor beings oft forgotten in the greater things. US cabinet was the nine nazgul and Rumsfeld was beating down the doors of shire as the witch king.

I nominated some of us local leftist youth as the four hobbits, and so on, including a young radical-conservative in the role of gollum and some more well known people of the world in other roles. I for one think Fidel Castro has enough age and beard to be gandalf if he just changed the cigar for a pipe, Reliable sources tell that Jasser Arafat is shorty and has also a beard making him... nevermind.

Tony Blair got to play Balrog of Moria and a certain rather bitter europarlamentarian i know and respect as cynicist became Elrond. Osama Bin Laden with his old CIA connections was Saruman.

Ents were gang of rednecks in marocco at a shooting of a "singles on the beach - matchmaking reality tv show." Myself and another hobbit were greatly strenghtened by their liquids.

The great finale had me as Pippin facing Norman Swarzkopf at the gates of Washington and a comerade infiltrating white house to carry the ring to the archive of US federal social program proposals there to vanish forever. Once more evil was defeated. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

That was the coolest thing I've seen. It nearly made a scandal out of myself. My neighbors would have thought I myself was corrupted by the One True if I laughed so hard.

I'm not worried of the linguistic skills of man wielding greatest amount of power in the world. What worries me is that:
- he does not believe in global warming
- he does not believe in international obligation via co-operation, treaties and international legislation
- he does believe in war as a way of solving any of his international dissatisfications.
- he does believe in more and more strict sanctioning on any internal protests caused by his policy

Oh. that there were a ring... that would mean that convinient method of dismanteling this persons power existed. We are likely to face a war of the ring, but there is no ring and mount doom really is there? And the "armoury of democracy" is not going to help with lend lease agains this guy.
