Nerwen -
![]() I was thinking about this earlier, but as I had nothing concrete to back up my guess and very little knowledge on it overall and because I did not think it's the correct answer I did not say it. But now that both Nerwen and Might have been wrong I fail to see any of other options (except for something about as silly as what Nerwen just suggested ![]()

Mwahahahaha, both wrong! And even if the Gondorian Airlines existed, we are told that what the fastest route was, and Gondorian Airlines are not mentioned!
*claps hands* So what now, eh? You all must really be puzzled ![]()

Actually that is a rather poor hint. . .it excludes a few places and clearly our problem is to come up with possible solutions. The next hint really should be one that hints to what the answer might be, instead of what it is not.
![]() (just a bit irritated because all that I thought of when reading the question all got eliminated as solutions as I read the thread.) |

It was not actually supposed to be a hint

What about Moria?
If, then it must be mentioned somewhere in FotR, I am now however not in the mood to look it up. Actually strange I did not think of it before... also looking on the map Moria seems to save time.

By sea from Pelargir to the mouth of Gwathlo, then up the river to Tharbad and then by land (following the road later called the Greenway) via Bree to Fornost?

Very good, Gordis! You are correct.
It was indeed this route. For reference, look into the Unfinished Tales, I can't look it up now, but in the passage about the port of Lond Daer, this route is said to be the most used and the fastest way possible from Gondor to Arnor; even from Minas Tirith, seemingly. It looks very interesting, and this is why I picked it, but it is said to be like that. Gordis, please give us a new question.

![]() OK. New question: What answer did Déor, the King of Rohan, get from Isengard when he sent messengers to its gates - and who gave this answer? |

His messengers were shot at by the Dunlendings and treacherous guards who had seized Isengard.

That is actually correct. . .but I made a mistake
![]() what I should have wrote was: "give me the name and title of the person that took command of Minas Tirith after the army departed for the black gate" So if you want the thread you can have it, but you can also chose be kind to me and answer this question as well. |

Since Nerwen seems to have been rather inactive here lately, do I get the thread if I answer your latter question?

I remember that story and like it a lot. But I can't remember the name. Leof or something.

Sorry if I seem ignorant (I just can't remember), but are we allowed to look these things up in books for the purpose of answering?

"unethical"
Quite dramatic to call it unethical. . . It is up to you what you dio, but remember it should be fun for everybody. I do think it is alright to look in the books, but it depends on the situation and I don't have a general rule about it. Well, I do have one rule and that is that I never use the encyclopedia of Arda to anything else than to come up with a question. Last edited by Rune Son of Bjarne; 11-27-2008 at 03:30 PM. |

Thanks Lommy. Let's see if I can come up with a hard one.
![]() What was the home of Eomer at the time of the War of the Ring?

I was about to say: "he didn't have one", thinking that he'd been banished, but I remembered that was only in the movie. However considering he went to so many places during the War I'll go with: the prison. I think Theoden had him dumped in there for a while.

I'd say Aldburg in the Folde, that was the ancestral home of his family.
