A wild guess: they all had something important crafted by Telchar the Dwarf-smith?

Aragorn had Narsil, Beren had Angrist, and Curufin, Hador and Turin all held the Helm of Dor-Lomin at some point (if my memory serves me correctly ).

Ecthelion of Gondolin, Ecthelions of Gondor... they're almost the same, when it comes to this list - but it'll help you find the right answer if you'll think of the Ecthelions of Gondor.

I meant Anarion son of Isildur, but there most probably is a connection to Tar-Anarion, the eighth king of Numenor as well.

Okay, I have a zillion possibilities, except Brandir keeps getting in the way.

They all ruled Minas Anor / Minas Tirith for a time?

Each had one (surviving) son?

Each was slain treacherously?

- Let us know the answer ASAP. I have a phenomenally good question!

Sorry, no.
Don't think of the persons that much - think of their names.
(Also, think of Gondor.)

They were all from Gondor;
Ecthelion: Steward of Gondor
Denethor: Steward of Gondor
Firiel: Daughter of King Ondoher
Boromir: Captain of the White Tower
Faramir: Stewart of Gondor, Prince of Ithilien.

Telchar - who are the other two Firiel's??
Bragolheledion - the answer was that each of those names were borne by three persons in Middle earth.

Anyway - try this one:- shouldn't be too hard:

Aragorn
Boromir
Finrod
Legolas

Hm... the Fellowship was attacked by wolves near Caradhras, and Finrod fought (and was killed by) wolves in Tol Sirion?

Close enough - Aragorn, Boromir and Legolas all killed a wolf near Caradhra; Finrod killed a werewolf in Sauron's dungeons.
