Sam carries Frodo? Sam spares Gollum's life? Sam uses the Phial of Galadriel? Frodo attempts to keep the Ring? Frodo's burden is lifted? Gwaihir saves Sam and Frodo? Am I even getting close...?

Ok, both Sam and Gollum wanted to get the Ring of Frodo though for differnet reasons.

Phial of Galadriel doesn't work...all powers except Sauron's subdued here at the heart of Sauron's realm.
Nirvana, do you mean keep "off" or "on" the topic of Gollum and Sam? "Of" doesn't make sense to me.
