Close, but not quite. Not Eldar because of the broadness it covers and not Morequendi or the other one I can't spell, because, well, I can't spell. Think a shorter name and another branch of Elves.
I can't believe I put Nandor twice, just overlook that.

The Thains of the Shire:
you're missing Bucca of the Marish, Gorhendad Oldbuck, 10 unspecified Oldbucks, Fortinbras I and II, Ferumbras III, Isengrim I and 8 unspecified Tooks, likely including all the Is for which there are later IIs and IIIs . Well, I'll go for the obvious and say the hills before Morannon, the connection being that they are all the sites of battles depicted in LotR.
If that's not it, a hint perhaps?

*bump* Trying to guess the riddle: - for what it's worth:
Expanding on Mr Saucepan's idea: ...the Cracks of Doom. (desperate situations when victory seemed futile, but which were saved by a miraculous turn of events)?

I think I'll ask the next question
Boromir, Grima, Smeagol Hint: The next one is not from LOTR

Morgoth. Each one had a hand injured because they would not let go of a treasure...a silmarillion or the One Ring.

Faramir? Because they all disobeyed someone about something?

I am absolutely drawing a blank concerning Faramir's disobeying someone. But that is the correct reasoning for my list. Beregond was the missing item on my list.
So, it your turn with my compliments ![]() Oh, duh...now I remember. When he allowed Frodo and Sam to go free..or am I mixing up the movie with the book??? I can't remember.

yes i was thinking when he allowed frodo and sam to go free, although it's made more explicit in the movie it's also in the book. But yeah, I guess Beregond is the more obvious guess. I guess I too am being brainwashed by the movie
Anyway - here's the next: Tom Bombadil Aragorn Gandalf
