And I won't say it is necessarily from a "present" point of view - or if I understood correctly what you mean by it - it is written from the narrator's point of view, you have this narrator interacting with the reader "as you can imagine, poor Mr. Bilbo was..." But that is actually pretty good. Imagine something written about let's say Saruman from that point of view. Awwwww! Cuuuuuuuuute!!!!!
