I get that entire "I wish I was there instead of here" vibe when I'm reading nearly any really good book... but I must say Tolkien's the worst (best?) for influencing it...

Mostly in school. Driver's Ed is the worst. Sitting behind that wheel getting yelled at for going too slow (don't ask) makes one want to be anywhere in Middle Earth. Preferably Rivendell. I've always imagined that Rivendell would be eternally breathtaking... Much better to lounge about under the trees singing with the elves than wonder why people can't use their blinkers.

*sigh* Now I hate to get back to real life. Let's all set up a permanent colony of LOTR-style life, and get called insane by legions of Real-Worlders. I call the first set of pointy ears.
