Happy Birthday... or should I say Happy BirthDay? Don't let your fire die with age (like if you were getting really old... ).

Hey schoolmate who taught me how to pronounce Gustave Flaubert's name, happy birthday. Twenty-two, is it not? A toast to that. Or if you still don't drink, I will do it for you.

Don't get too embarrassed, Nilp. If you lot don't greet me in a few months' time, I'll have your head Nilp, you being the only Downer I know.

A very good birthday Nilp! And greetings from the cold and dark Helsinki - just thinking of your latest picture moshing at the sandy beach while it's +5 C outside and pitch-dark...

I hope this will not be deemed inappropriate but a birthday memorial for a downer who took ship far too soon: Gralin . I think she would have been just 21 today. I think of her often because of what Tolkien meant to her - and as a reminder, when I start to mind my, age that growing older is a privilege not given to all.

I would like to wish belated happy birthday to all the folks whose birthday I missed... Roa, Nilp... everybody... it's actually horrible, haven't I said already at this very thread not that long ago that whenever I am away for a while, loads of people have their birthdays? No idea how that always comes. And, not less importantly, happy birthday to the Bagginses! I wondered if anybody's gonna remember them, because I think they should be named here! x-ed with Esty. Nice somebody remembered.

I would like to wish a happy birthday to the Spectre of Capitalism, Thenamir! When I first joined the Downs I was a big geek, looking up on everyone of the moderators and active member's posts. I particularly enjoyed reading Thenamir's. I hope your Spectre comes back to haunt the Downs soon, have a good one Thenamir!

Thanks for the well-wishes, and a happy Shire Hangover Day (the day after the Long-Expected Party) to everyone! I have a great deal to be thankful for today, for those who don't know, the eye of Hurricane Ike passed a mere 15 miles to the east of my home, but no one was hurt, and there was almost no damage to our house or cars -- many even in our neighborhood did not fare so well. Our beloved willow tree, in our backyard, was nearly stripped bare, and several of its larger limbs were snapped off, but it will recover, in time. Also, in a city where 1/3 of the people are even today without power and some may not get it back on for a couple of weeks, our electricity was out for a mere 36 hours. God was very good to us, and I am grateful. I could receive no better birthday gift than this. I am sorry that the Downs has not been higher on my priority list, but you are all in my thoughts often, and I wish the best for all of you today and every day!
