A new Downer
Lal gave birth to a boy last night - 10.30. Mother & baby are both fine.
(Sorry there's no more details at the moment, but its 2.40 am here & I've just got back from the Hospital. Eleven pounds 3 ounces by caesarian. And now to bed.) |

Is that addition or edition, alatar?
And concerning sleep, some say this provides a slight solution: (Oh, and, be prepared for receiving lots of advice, particularly from absolute strangers, of whom I am of course one as we've never met.) (yes, I am allowed to double post on such an occasion especially as I have time on my hands.

Splendid news, well done everyone!
Eleven pounds 3, wow, I am really impressed. There's some fine Northern genes there, for sure.

Well done, well done.
May your times be filled with the joys of good things and very few filthy nappies indeed. Let life be good forever from now on!

Wonderful news! Many congratulations to you! I hope he's not going to join the Downs when he grows up, because if the combined genes work, then no discussion thread will be safe anymore Pass all our congrats to Lalwendë as well!

Best of luck and congratulations! Your life will change. Oh how it will! It's as if you walk out the door and are swept along by something you never even knew existed before. I am sure you will do great with the child rearing. My one and only piece of advice is to make sure you both get enough sleep in the coming weeks.

It is good to know everything is well. I'm sure you two have had a very exciting (and exhausting) week. Hopefully the baby will let you at least get some shut eye.. I think we all here look forward to seeing pictures in the future.

Well thank you for letting us know so soon ... I know a lot of us are very fond of you both (all!) but obviously there are a lot of RL folk who have priority...
But I am typing with a huge grin on my face and am just so happy for you and relieved that he has safely arrived. *hugs*

Do we get to see a picture? And note that, when told the baby's weight, Ms. alatar said, "Ouch!" (even with the cesarean thing).

I bet Mrs Alatar will have even more sympathy when you tell her the "Caesarian thing" was after 2 days of labour.... that is still a very big OUCH as far as I am concerned... and I've realised that this one was bigger than the combined birth weight of my friends twins ...

There is some interesting research that shows that women do forget just how painful it is surprisingly quickly which I suppose is natures way of maintaining the population... but I can't quite believe it, but then I went drinking with a obstetrician at an impressionable age ...and that really put me off

Eleven-three! That's a big boy. Well, at least he wasn't eleventy-three.
Congratulations! My small tip: keep a journal handy if you haven't already started one. Those first few months go by in a sleepless blur and later on you might really enjoy looking back on your thoughts and feelings from what will surely be one of the most intense times of your lives. |

Amazing. Usually I'm ambivalent about babies but I squeal over puppies and kittens, but I'm downright cooing over the lil fella. Look at those chubby cheeks.

But, I can't argue, he's a handsome lil'downer. Congratulations!!! Very glad to hear that Lal is okay, a ceasarian is absolutely no easy thing (as recounted to me by mum, hers almost killed her, but that's a story not needed here), and congratulations again! I hope the little one brings you more life and happiness. ~ Ka

I'm so happy with this!
Sooner than you think he will be questioning all you wish to teach him. And before you realise he will go to school - that happens so fast!! And after that he will probably join the Downs and lo! what can we do about it but to learn from him then... Congrats! Just be human with your little guy. No manual can teach what loving parents can do. Make him feel that he's welcome in this world and that the arms of mummy and daddy are cozy as well... I'm so happy about to hear this!

Wow, just wow...absolutely adorable. He's even got my niece's cheeks when she was born.
I think he's got a promising future, I mean after all a child from lal and davem could only mean we will, in time, have a new wight at the top of the reputation totem poll. Congradulations to all of you.
