Tolkien uses the word, dwimmer-crafty in reference to Saruman -
In 'The Riders of Rohan', when Eomer is speaking alone to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, he tells them of Saruman's designs on Rohan and the difficulties of dealing with him: Quote:
