So I'm sitting here like an idiot staring at the members list and randomly trying to make names sound like 'southern cross', with some interesting results in trying to fit the whole phrase into about one syllable. Not having much more success with the anagram line either... I would guess it is a sound-alike, being as it is 'I am said to be', but I could be entirely wrong; besides, I can't think of anything that a 'southern cross' could possibly be. Giving off light = glowing = Gloin. Southern cross = ?!

I would agree with Perky, that cryptic clues belong, indeed, in Cryptic Clues. However, I am intrigued - and also now really rather frustrated!

Actually, it's less complicated than that.

Southern cross = SX which, when said, sounds like Essex.
