Unfortunately, he had reckoned without Arwen's hyper sensitive jewellery radar & elven speed. She got there first with her nassty sharp elvishes sword.....

Fortunately, when she tried to put the Ring on her sword, it didn't fit, saving the group from a messy fate with an invisible sword.
