For my money, one of the nittiest picks of all is the complaint that the wargs did not look enough like wolves.

I don't disagree. It's a purely emotional thing. When I heard that there would be Wargs and Warg-riders in the film, I was so looking forward to seeing them. But they were such a disappointment that it has become one of my major gripes about the films.
