Well, I'm not questioning that New Line have their eyes on the money. But there's another (possible) reason that the RotK EE won't come out sooner than November - namely, that it isn't finished yet! It's easy enough to release the theatrical version earlier, since it's already been made. But they do have to do quite a bit of extra work on the EE - and remember, all involved have other projects to work on as well, including PJ. So the EE will have to be made in the 'gabs' in the other work...

True. I was also wondering that they weren't releasing it earlier because they didn't want to compete with the Star Wars trilogy coming out on DVD in September.

Does anyone have a specific quote from me on how long the EE will be? As far as I know, no one knows, but I don't want to read what's going to be added, so maybe I've skipped over the time .
