Trolls and Laurelin’s last fruit.

I would believe so. Since half of the Silmarils light comes from Laurelin, basically, the Silmarils are like small suns. But they probably wouldn't have as much effect as the sun because only half of the light is Laurelins. The trolls didn't get hurt by the moon after what I have heard.
But then there is something else bothering me. Didn't the battles of the First Age go on during daytime as well? Shouldn't the trolls of those battles be turned to stone?
