To answer your question, dogtrot -- if I remember aright, PJ wasn't chosen for the film -- he championed the project and basically devised a little "sales kit" to convince the studio that it could be done and that it would be cool, exciting, and most of all marketable. He's the man who got the ball rolling. So I think ya have to be encouraged that he is a self-starting fan and not just some hired gun who was brought on to do the project.
