Look at my signature: Does it seem like Fingolfin didn't stand a chance? Do you think Morgoth would let himself be wounded by one he hated right in front of his army? A (desperate?) last resort maybe, but not suicide.
And besides, isn't heroism actually foolish luck? [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img] And actually, I think I've changed my mind. I think there are lots of 'greatest heroes', all in a somewhat different way. Beren - and Luthien, of course - Frodo, Merry & Éowyn, Sam, Faramir, Gandalf, Hurin, Turin etc.
