The purpose of Art is to instruct, eh?! I think not! - at least on the level of Artist (and I'm speaking here solely for myself). Perhaps once removed from the creative experience itself it can be looked on it that way - a more academic and more static level. Should Tolkien agree or not with my assessment, I care not. It is simply how I view it.
