Elvanui has just left Hobbiton.

FYI: it's easier to get pointy ears by using cosmetic glue; like the kind used for fake fingernails and eyelashes. It looks fairly good and is relatively painless, at least compared to rubber bands.

*I'm not obsessed with LOTR..I'm obsessed with fantasy in general!*

I too, get annoyed when Santa's "elves" are mentioned...they are imps or something

I make references to LOTR all the time. ie I'll see a bridge and want to do the Khazad Dum scene (of course, my non-LOTR friends sometimes don't get it)

getting in long conversations about why swords are soooo much better than guns

Make honest attempts to dress and act Elvish(like buying shirts with flowing sleeves or a general ethereal feel). Ask the person you are shopping with if you look like an elf.

PS...what is wrong with liking other books (ie Harry Potter)...just because it isn't Tolkien doesn't mean it can't be entertaining.
