Because Frodo was getting really vain about it. I mean a ring that doesn't melt or even get warm when thrown into a fire and that has a secret inscription in it...who wouldn't?

What did Frodo see in Galadriel's mirror? (i'm not sure if that's what it's called,but you know what i mean, right?)
