The Creation of the Dwarves

The dwarves were created early - before the promised coming.

In the same way, Ishmael was created 13 years before the promised son due to naive understanding.

Tolkien also makes note that the dwarves returned back to their mountain or rock.

I don't think there's really a similarity.

The Dwarves were not "created", so to speak, as the other Children: by direct Divine action. Their forms were made in an act of ill-conceived subcreation by Aulê. As a created being himself, he was incapable of any true creation of spirit. It was only the intervention of the One that put them in as "adopted" Children.
