Guahahaha. Just think of what would happen if there was no comic relief/motivation/'Do You Hear the People Sing?' There's a very nice picture on Deviantart, of Fingon before he sets out to Thangorodrim, and the artist has actually put a little harp along with the rest of his gear, hanging from his arm.
