We all know it turned out OK, but wasn't it an abdication of Aragorn's responsibility to the primary task of the Fellowship? Gandalf was "gone", Aragorn was now the leader, and Frodo and Sam had taken off with the Ring at a time when Aragorn knew there were orcs around, as well as Gollum. Shouldn't he have gone after the Ring, perhaps leaving the pursuit of the orcs to Legolas and Gimli? --Mithadan-- "The Silmarils with living light were kindled clear, and waxing bright shone like stars that in the North above the reek of earth leap forth." </p>
