Safty pins are used to hold things. Ropes are used to hold things. Merry and Pippin were bound by Uruk Hai ropes. Saruman made those Uruk Hai. Saruman uses a Palantir. A Palantir makes things from far away show up better. Highlighter pens make things show up better.
