Events at Mount Rather-Forboding take a turn for the worse.

Sauron: Ach well. (Watches Ring fizzle and pop into oblivion). Better to burn out than to fade away.

Slowly begins to dissipate, unravelling like so many knitting similes.

Sauron: (indistinctly) That's just not even funny.

Casts baleful eye rather vaguely upwards and then is gone.
