| Wight | Fellowship of the Clones...startling similarities to other flicks....

Well I just noticed that actually, LOTR is a hell of a lot like the Star Wars trilogy....get this... Frodo/Luke: Noble, bold heroes who arent actually half as interesting as everyone else... Sam/The Force: The heroes trusty sidekick, who always does as he's told... Boromir/Lando Calrissian: Charming ruffians who may, just may, turn on their fellows...Also fights with one one the below. Aragorn/Han Solo: The tough guy with manly stubble, does a lot of fighting and who EVENTUALLY gets the girl...Also fights with one of the above. Arwen/Leia: Annoyingly pretty/perfect gals who eventually get hitched to one of the above... Gandalf/Obi Wan: Old beardy ones, who snuff it in the fist film only to come back.... Merry and Pip/R2 and C3PO: The INCREDIBLY annoying comedy duo who manage to get everyone else in trouble... Saruman/Jabba: Decoy villians who really make a mess of things Watcher in the Water/Sarlaac: Nasty greeblie with tentacles. Ick. Bilbo/Owen lars: Grumpy old sods... Orcs/Stormtroopers: Army of the villain. Lucky they couldnt hit the broadside of a barn then really..... Uruk Hai/TIE fighters: SLightly better fighters. Still easy to kill though.... Hordes of mad obsessive fans/Hordes of mad obsessive fans....

Whoa, that's freaky. If you have seen TTT, I noticed that in one spot in the Dead Marshes Gollum sounds like Yoda. "Yes, yes." I dunno, maybe it's just me...

I thought that The Fellowship of the Ring was somewhat like Willow. I can't give like exact examples but they were very much alike I thought. This doesn't go for movies but as far as books are concerned. The Lord of the Rings series by Tokien are VERY similar to the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. (The Shannara series are VERY VERY good by-the-way)

Hey!! Merry and Pippin aren't annoying. So anyway Those were pretty good analogies. Did you guys notice that when Gandalf and Obi-won "die" they kinda do it in the same way. Did you notice the way Obi-won looks at Luke and Gandalf to Frodo before either of them die of fall. It's seems like it's got te same feeling and style. They both do it to help the "hero". And they are both responded with a loud NO! of some kind.

The only connection I make between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings is Chistopher Lee's roles in both films. Saruman that Count guy from Star Wars have so much in common.

Yoda is almost an Elrond... And Eowyn's transformation from girly to sheildmaiden is similar to Padme Amidala's sudden warrior princess state of mind. No wait, that would be more of Tolkien's Arwen to PJ's Arwen

The reason why there is so many similarities, is that George Lucas said that one of his main inspirations for Star Wars was the LOTR novels. It is not that the LOTR movie makers copied Star Wars, it is that the Star Wars movie makers copied LOTR books.

Some of my Harry potter clone ideas -Harry/Frodo both have unruly black hair. -Dementors/ringwraiths need I say more? -Sauron/Voldemort (he who must not be named) and the fact that they both are not physical and are trying to get back to power. -Gimli/Hagrid just the accent maybe. I know I know more but I can't remember them, I'll be back.

I have always noticed that the third in the trilogy of lotr is, "Return of the King," and the third in the trilogy of star wars is "Return of the Jedi".

What's wrong with Gimli? Really; I liked him. Anyway, I noticed the similarities as well, though not as you did. I was thinking more along the lines of "Darth Vader is the Witch King" and such.

Well during the first Harry Potter movie I found it to be strikingly similar to FOTR. Two young people suddenly receiving very serious responsiblities, and learning serious things about the past, and having to leave on a kind of quest with a group of friends. Though during TTT and Chamber of Secrets the parallel stories kind of seperated. Additionally Harry and Frodo kind of always did those "What should I do?" looks with the big round eyes

Why is it that everybody compares LOTR to HP?!?!?! That gets on my nerves!!!! Anyway, I think that everybody copied LOTR. HP, Star Wars, everything is a copy of our wonderful LOTR. And we, my friends, are obssessed with the popular thing that everyone copies. How special.

This topic is quite strange in that people seem to be saying how LOTR is like HP/Star wars when it should be them which are like LOTR- which was written 50 years ago! Oh, and I don't know who said it, but Eowyn hardly starts out "girly"- she wears dresses, yes, but her state of mind is far from girly!
