I'm reading Simarillion right now. Although it's hard to read, I think it's a great book that deserves at least a 9. Cheers! |

Unfinished tales (haven't read it but know what it is) probably would be worth a 9 like all the other middle-earth books 'cept adventures of tom B.

hmmm, very interesting, thanks for all of your replies! Would you say that Lord of the Rings are the best books Tolkein's written? What is your favorite book out of the trilogy?

I like the Silmarillion, if only slightly better. My favourite book of the trilogy is probably Book III involving the Three Hunters' arrival in Rohan, the appearance of the White Rider, and Helm's Deep. My favourite volumes of HoME are 5, 10, 11, and 12. [ August 22, 2002: Message edited by: Legalos ]

I've read the Hobbit, LOTR, and working on the Silm. I have The Lost Road and Other Writings {Part of HOME}, just I'm waiting 'til I get the other books in the series first. I have a few of his fairy stories coming though by mail.

Well, since December, so far I've read the Trilogy 4 times, the Silmarillion twice, and the Book of Lost Tales, the Book of Unfinished Tales, the Hobbit and the Adventures of Tom Bombadil once. Hmmm....I'd say.... the Trilogy: 10/10, it's definitely my favourite the Silmarillion: 10/10, I loved that book the Hobbit: 6/10 the Book of Unfinished Tales: 7.5/10 the Book of Lost Tales: 8/10 the Adventures of Tom Bombadil: 5/10 Yes, and by the way, I'm not a newbie to Tolkien and LOTR stuff but am a newbie here. ello!! I really liked unfinished tales. I really liked the stories about tuor and turin. I'd give it a 9 out of 10. And for some reason I really liked the lost road and other writings. My faveourite book from lotr would have to be ttt. For some reason I really liked the beginning where aragorn, legolas and gimli are running after merry and pippin. And gollum is one of my favourite chrarcters and i really liked reading about him.

I've only read Fotr and am almost done with ttt. I'm also reading the Silmarillion and just got two more copies of the hobbit, though I have not had time to read much since school started again.
