Glorifindil also frightens the remaining black riders & their horses into the floods with sticks on fire (he also gave more burning sticks to the other fellowship members). He also helped to cast the flood, and, had he not found them, they surely would've been caught by the blackriders (I doubt the hobbits ponys could go as fast as Glorifindils horse.). Also, the white horse he lent Frodo was obviously unlike any other horses (except a few of the Meras), and another ordinary horse wouldn't have done the job.
