Fingon the Valiant was a noble king/prince who did the best he could with clear and unquestionable intentions - as righteous or more so than his cousins, and most other characters in
The Silmarillion. Gothmog, Lord of the Balrogs, could not even defeat Fingon - it took
two balrogs.
