Fingolfin is father to Fingon and Turgon (KINGS not king), he stands against Morgoth, he falls to his death in the pit carved by Grond, a might supremem is again Morgoth, and it says that he was basically nuts when he rode to the challenge; hence the "from a lack of sense"
