& as an aside to the above: elsewhere I'm being very silly and basically filking an entire Shakespeare play as A Doriathrin Night's Dream. In additional to generalised Legendarium silliness:

Quote:
Niniel: What is Aredhel? A wand'ring knight?

Morwen: Pretty much, but in this case the lady Eöl loves and slays.

Niniel: Oh, great; I worried you would have me play a man. Just think how silly that would look!

Morwen: It would be all as one: you shall play it in a mask, and you may speak as small as you will.

Turin: An I may hide my face, let me play Aredhel as well, I’ll speak in a monstrous little voice, ‘Eöl Eöl;’ ‘Ah Aredhel, my lover dear! thy Eöl dear, and with no knife!’

Niniel: O Turin, I didn't know you cared!

Morwen: No, no, and definitely no; you must play Eöl: and, Niniel Aredhel.
And the occasional Hobbit joke:

Quote:
Mablung, Galadriel, Celeborn:

You spotted snakes with double tongue,
Thorny hedgehogs, be not seen;
Newts & blind-worms, do no wrong.
Come not near our Elvenqueen.
Nightingale, with melody
Sing our sweet tra-la-lally;
Tra-la, la-la, la-lally; tra-la, la-la, la-lally:
Never harm,
Nor spell nor charm.
Come our lovely lady nigh;
So, good night, with lullaby.
I have managed to work a couple of Zong references in.

Quote:
Melian:
Be kind and courteous to this gentleman;
Guide him on walks and dance before his eyes;
Feed him with winter-frosted ash-berries,
With beechmast and with scarlet mulberries;
The honey-bags steal from the humble-bees,
And for night-tapers crop their waxen thighs
And light them at the fiery glow-worm’s eyes,
To lead my love to bed and to arise;
And pluck the wings from painted butterflies
To fan the moonbeams from his sleeping eyes:
Nod to him, elves, and do him courtesies.

Galadriel: That all sounds very normal; we'll do so.
And even an interruption by Sauron, inspired by Dawn:

Quote:
Beren:
She sees not Luthien. Luthien, sleep there:
And never mayst thou come to Beren near!
For as a surfeit of the sweetest things
The deepest loathing to the stomach brings,
Or as the heresies of Morgoth's word
Are hated most by those who Him have served,
So thou, my surfeit and my heresy,
Of all be hated, but the most of me!
And, all my powers, address your love and might
To honour Nellas and to be her knight!

(Enter Sauron)

Sauron:
Just to be clear: Lord Melkor's words of might
Are only 'heresy' in Valar's sight.
If you would only listen to his tales,
You'd find them more convincing than their wails.
It's all extremely silly, but it keeps me entertained. ^_^
