All need to be people so they can be 'people named after precious stones, metals, and jewellery'. The password is not the theme, the cover is not the book, &c &c.
(Had I not gone with 'people', you'd be looking at clues for Tilkal, Ormal, and the Silmarils, so rejoice that I limited myself.)
