Well if they had ever made this movie 5 years ago I would say that the best choice for Luthien is Anna Netrebko. Hell, she could probably do it now as she's still very beautiful.
Not only a beautiful woman but also a very famous opera singer with a lovely voice. Thats what I call taking out two birds with one stone.
