For another, Amroth won his loyalty by treating him warmly and affirming his humanity, but he's highly sceptical of seeing the same from the others. The wild behavior is (a) jealousy over his newfound NewFriendAmroth-- mine, mine, you can't have him; and (b) defending NewFriendAmroth from the highly suspect and unproven Others.
Amroth is passed out cold and won't wake up for a good two or three sleep cycles... so you've got plenty of time to tame the wild boy. But you've got to keep him from dragging Amroth away in the meantime.
Watch those teeth.
