Or that the "Search for Gollum" has everything to do with the One Ring. This will always be an issue, of course, as long as the title of the books (and the movie "franchise") is
Lord of the Rings.
If they are going to change the focus of the franchise, one must do what other franchises do, and focus on offering new menu options. A subtle change would be to change the One Ring to an Onion Ring, and thus tie it to other menu favorites like fish and chips. Some folks prefer onion rings to po-ta-toes.
