#1: 'See, hear' means C, which we already knew (thanks to the successful parts of Urwen's guesses) was the first letter. Looking at the theme so far, I'm guessing CIRDAN for this clue... and sure enough, 'irdan' is an anagram of 'drain'.
#3: AUTUMN is the 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness' of Keats. I think Frodo went walking in autumn after his return?
#4: The initial P + 'suffering' suggests PAIN, which is plain (a land) - L... but how that's 'its first scenery' I don't know.
#6: LANE anagrammed + OR = ELANOR. (I knew it had to be her, but Urwen's inclusion of 'or' in Dora showed me how.)
#9: Could this be as simple as BOX?
