So what might you
do if that's being sung at you? There's a fair few verbs mentioned (and a few more in the poem it comes from), but nothing jumps out as being anything other than a verb; no place- or person-names.
GO is the most repeated one; there's no other verbs unambiguously directed at the captives in the song ('batter, jabber' could be). In the poem, both 'work' and 'shirk' are, and arguably 'pound'.
Or it could be synonyms, which is where fall came into things (as a synonym for descend, go down, &c).
