Belegorn has just left Hobbiton.
Nikko, the only thing I can compare this to is with Aulë when he created the dwarves. They were like machines that could only move when he made them move and Eru pointed this out to him.

In Myths Transformed from Morgoth's Ring, Manwë and Melkor look at each other:

In Of the Coming of the Elves there is a passage that says Melkor cannot create life or its semblence.

There is another passage where it discusses what Melkor did with the Elves he had captured. He bred orcs from them via "slow arts of cruelty".
