I always find it funny that so many of us love cats and yet Tolkien seemed to dislike them (though I'm actually broody over a black rabbit in the local pet shop)! If I had a Tardis I'd go back and sneak a little kitten into his study and change his mind
Hopefully it wouldn't cough a furball up onto the first page of The Hobbit or we'd all disappear out of existence....
