Favorite character & favorite board
My favorite character is Frodo (which should be rather obvious from my name) because even though he was "just" a hobbit, he chose to do something amazingly heroic and grew enough in the process to understand the depth of Saruman's fall. And he must have been a pretty terrific guy because Sam, Merry and Pippin all chose to face incredible evil because they were his friends.
Regarding the theme of this board, I too was initially a put off (indeed creeped out) when I saw the "newly deceased" under my name. However, I've never found any board on any subject where the posts are also always intelligent and articulate and exchanges are civil and thoughtful -- even where there is disagreement. Maybe it's because seeing yourself listed as "newly deceased" subconsciously gives a bit of perspective....
