According to the text, it seems to me that Huan was not owned by Celegorm in the traditional sense of a master owning a pet, rather, more of a lord and vassal type agreement; therefore, any fealty Huan held for Celegorm was disavowed when the hound of the Valar perceived that Celegorm was breaking a moral imperative held in Valinor (as Skip inferred, a divine authority).
