AKM: Tol-In-Gaurhoth and the Lost Killer Instinct?

The Arda Kicker Magazine is back on track!

As is well known the glorious Tol-In-Gaurhoth team has made dramatic changes to this season; they have abandonded the awe-awaking name of T-I-G and quit their werewolvery playing now as humans. So it was very interesting indeed to see how their game would settle in a friendly match against a diminished Edoras team playing now under the banner of Rohan.

Everyone thought the game was over after the first period as the ‘Downers ripped the previously mighty Rohanian defences into pieces and made it 2-0 on the scoreboard in a playful manner. But the Rohanians came back to the second half with Felarof and Firefoot totally closing their defence and a hungry Eomer taking advantage of the overconfidence of the satiated ‘Downers. After the game it was easy to say the draw was a justified result. But did it tell the spectators anything of the relative strengtht of the two teams remains to be seen.

“In all the team is very optimistic and everyone gets along well, we’re very confident we’ll win everything”, the heroine of the game Wilwa rejoiced. Some others were more careful with their comments. “We need to remember a game lasts for 90 minutes” Nogrod commented shaking his head. “We can’t afford such lapses of game-control in the actual tournament” Skip Spence added. “And Eomer really needs to start picking more than half of the shots at the goal” the phantom said smiling sarcastically.

On other games the AKM was watching Gil-Galad made a serious appointment to contest for the title of the top goal-scorer of the tournament with his two smashing goals against Breeland. Playing alongside Sauron didn’t seem to slow him down t all, and some were already speculating whether the magic touch of Sauron could work it’s miracles this year as well, now for Barad-Dűr.

“You know me…” Sauron commented but would not say more. His grin though was a trademark thing anyway.

Many were disappointed with Aman’s performance in drawing with Misty Mountains, and the equalling goal was more or less doubtful. Even with the high numbers of cards given it was clear the referee missed half of the crimes Misty Mts. were guilty of. It will be seen how they will manage to keep their players disciplined for the tournament itself.

On the fourth game Bywater really showed some signs of being a team one shouldn’t underestimate this year. They dominated the game against the great heroes of old and the Belerianders were more or less lucky to get the late-equaliser.

“This is good fun” Gandalf laughed after the game. “Yeah, feels like being a young and stout Maia again!” Saruman nodded smiling without any evil in his grin, resting his arm on Gandalf’s shoulder. “And with the good old Shadowfax and the Nazguls in defence we are ready to take on any team in this tournament” Gandalf added and winked his eye to Saruman.
