Wit and intelligence - he used to be at the top of the rep as well before the world was changed.
He could get grumpy (pot..kettle) and while you might not agree with him - goodness knows I crossed swords a few times and had the odd full and frank exchange of views by PM - his posting was of the highest calibre.
