Provided Warner Bros. has the money. The state of the world economy means that
all studios are having to cut back on their productions. And while
The Hobbit would definitely more than make back the investment that MGM
or Warner Bros. would have to pay into it, they wouldn't see that money for years. We may just have to wait until the capital for making such a film exists.
On the other hand, a limited budget will certainly reduce the temptation to make the film a CGI-fest, though I was never worried on that account as soon as GDT (who uses CGI to tell a story, not the other way around) signed on...
