I read my dad's 3-volume set when I first read the trilogy. Then I got one of the newer all-in-one editions when the movie was coming out. I bought the one with the movie pic of the ringwraith on the front (it's pretty cheaply made) and I use it to write notes in and to underline things. It's kind of like my scribble note book. Then I went out and bought a nicer all-in-one set to keep in good condition. However for easy reading, especially at school or on vacation the 3-volume works well.
