I made Kath, tgwbs and Mith try it when I met them in London (we found a shop which sold all kinds of foreign candy, Finnish salted liquorice included) and at least Kath and tgwbs didn't find it that bad (or then they were just polite  ).

It wasn't unpleasant at all but tasted slightly medicinal (though I am not sure I can judge accurately since I had a bad ENT infection at the time and nothing tasted quite right). I think it is just a strange idea to have salty sweets.
